Mario Bellini
"Le Mura was the very first sofa I designed."
Mario Bellini lives and works in Milan, where he graduated in architecture from the Politecnico in 1959. Internationally renowned as an architect and designer, his work spans architecture, urban design, furniture, and industrial design. He has received numerous awards, including eight Compasso d’Oro prizes from ADI, and has lectured at leading cultural institutions around the world. His works are exhibited in several museums, including the MoMA in New York, which holds twenty-five of his designs in its permanent collection.
"It is a sofa that promises dynamism within the family thanks to its modularity. The sofa plays an active role in the domestic space and evolves alongside the changing ways of living at home."
Mario Bellini views design as an integrative act that unites function, aesthetics, and the relationship with the environment to transform an object into an element that, while meeting practical needs, becomes part of a larger narrative: that of people’s everyday lives.
